Connect and Configure Multiple Monitors
Extend your workspace with additional displays.
Connect Your Monitor
- Connect the monitor to your computer using the appropriate cable (HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, or VGA)
- Connect the monitor to power
- Turn on the monitor
- Windows should automatically detect it
Configure Display Settings
- Right-click on your desktop
- Select Display settings
- You'll see your monitors represented as numbered boxes
- Click Identify to see which number corresponds to which monitor
- Drag the monitor boxes to match their physical arrangement
Choose Display Mode
In Display settings, scroll to "Multiple displays" and choose:
- Extend these displays - Use both monitors as one big workspace (most common)
- Duplicate these displays - Show the same thing on both screens
- Show only on 1/2 - Use only one monitor
Quick switch: Press Windows + P to quickly change display modes.
Set Primary Monitor
- In Display settings, click the monitor you want as primary
- Scroll down and check Make this my main display
- Your taskbar and desktop icons will appear on this monitor
Adjust Resolution and Scaling
- Click on a monitor in Display settings
- Scroll to Scale to adjust text/icon size
- Scroll to Display resolution to change resolution
- Use the monitor's recommended resolution for best quality
Monitor Not Detected?
- Check all cable connections
- Try a different cable or port
- Click Detect in Display settings
- Restart your computer
- Update your graphics drivers
